Green Apatite, often mistaken for other gemstones, is a variety of the mineral apatite, Mined at Ankarafa, Vohémar District, Sava Region, Antsiranana Province, Madagascar. Its color variations are due to its composition of calcium phosphate plus fluorine, chlorine, or hydroxyl. While the neon blues are the most famous, apatite comes in a range of colors, including green, brown, softer or darker blues, yellow, violet, and even colorless. Light green apatites are sometimes called "asparagus stones." Apatite specimens may fluoresce or luminesce, and all have some visible inclusions, making crystal clear green Apatites rare.
